I heard interview calls for Mont-1 have already begun and the first 2 lists are out and interviews done.
What sort of a shittty process this school follows that they dont even inform parents who havent been called.
Even Defence officers selection criteria isnt as well concealed as the criteria for admission to shishu griha
but I hear its all about how much the parents earn.
When they have such admission criteria i wonder what sort of values they must be imparting to the kids there.

Has anyone got calls from Sishu griha for Mont 1 admission/interview ?Not sure if they have started the process for general category..
Please share comments..

Had anyone got admission or call for test for grade3.

Has any one got a call from this school?I have applied for Montessori but didn't get any call from them.

Has anyone got a call for montessori 2013-14? I have applied but not heard from the school!

Has anyone got a call for 2013-14 montessori admission? I have applied at the school. But not heard anything till date!

Does nayone have an idea how he school will get in touch with th eparents and when the calls will be made?

Are there any active group email ids (such as yahoo groups or google groups) for parents of Sishu Griha students where various things can be shared/discussed.

I searched in Internet, but no luck!
if any of you know, please post. Thanks.

I am looking for feedback about NPS, HSR layout in comparison to Sishu Griha, Thipasandra.

Any views are more than welcome.

I disagree with most points though not all-written by Sonakshi.
I can not comment on NPS since my child does not study there. However I do not see any considerable difference in my child and NPS child.

The school offers good stressfree education.
I remember my child-now graduating to class VIII attending a mastermind Camp related to math two years back. It was just excellent.
I remember so much since we also learnt amazing things through her.
They do good rather Great science projects which my wife follows and keeps appreciating.

There are issues between parents & management, but no other school is exception to this.

Landed up on this site accidently and got shocked seeing reviews. Hopefully all goes well.

For the benefit of all the scurring parents of those tiny tots, pls do not get dejected if you do not get admissions in Sishu Griha. Reasons below:

My daughter is currently studying in this school, tops the class and wins in most of the competitions and represents the school in interschool competitions, but in my opinion, there is absolutely no necessity to talk or place this school at the pedestal of “Unmatched Schools in Bangalore!”

I would like to bring on record that the parents are treated as “ Guinea pigs”, especially when you visit the school office. You are not even offered a seat to sit when you want to talk to them, and they talk to the parents as if they are doing us a favour! Come On, if this is the treatment that you give to the parents, then what kind of culture is expected to be taught in school to the kids!!!!!!!. I have faced this, especially from that lady ,- Usha who is the PA to the Principal. She does not even have the basic etiquette and mannerisms to deal with EXISTING PARENTS, forget the ones who go to Sishu Griha for admissions, I pity them………

I am a Hindu, but I studied in a Convent school in Bangalore itself and I am able to see the stark difference in the quality of education/ mannerisms imparted to students, pls note: it is not just sufficient to teach kids to greet with a “Namaste”, but teach integrity and how to behave…(what we teach at home is what that stays)

It is like any other ordinary school, for the following facts:

· Homework is at its minimal upto 4th
· No exams till 4th, but for the tests that they conduct every quarter
· Teachers do not pay special attention to kids who even score averagely
· They ask kids to get money even if it amounts to Rs. 10/- (can’t the school collect it included in its fees), it was never the case in the school that I studied
· It is either an Annual day in a particular year or Sports Day- never both!
· The level of sports activity in the school encouraged is not even comparable to Government schools!- It is only parents who have taken the extra effort to get their wards exposed to a particular sport externally and win prizes for the school, absolutely no support/ encouragement from the school’s end(apart from announcing in the school assemblies)
· How about Quizes/ other academic competitions?- let me put it in bold-“IT IS THE PARENT WHO HAS TO AND WILL DO IT FOR THEIR CHILDREN TO EXCEL IN COMPETITIVE EXAMS LIKE Asset Apptitude, Maths and Science Olympiads and other competitions. The school gives not one iota of effort/ backing! All that matters is Parent’s complete undivided attention to kids and NOT the school’s contribution.
· Question booklets are given away to the child chosen to represent the school and it is the parent who is expected to make the child quiz ready, then what are the functions of the teachers/school, if this is the case???
· The level of English comprehension and vocabulary of the kids that I have seen in Sishu Griha is definitely far below to the standards of the Convent schools (I keep comparing to what I was when I was my daughter’s age)
· Even for a Christmas party or an excursion, children are expected to bring all the food stuffs and items, my questions is what is the school contributing?? If everything is to be provided by the children themselves, though this might seem petty, but it matters, when compared to other schools

The list goes on…but I am definitely pulling out my daughter out of this school and putting her to some of the convents here, they do best!!

School is not just abt building vocabulary or math skills. its about learning life skills too. Also about learning to be responsible citizens and caring for the environment. As far as I know Sishugriha adheres to this philosophy. The kids are happy. My daughter just got graduated from Montessori there. already an avid reader, happy and confident. Can answer the quiz questions of even Class 3. Thanks to their teaching methods. My daughter can read and understand and assimilate knowledge and prepare for competitions herself. she can THINK. Sishugriha has helped her to be as God had intended her to be. Thank God.

I believe that its one of the good school in that area and most of the parents are happy. But I see that it doesn't appear in educationworld rating anywhere except its name in "disabled friendly school" and one of the most innovative innovative principal etc. Can somebody pls. put some light why its not appearing in eduworld listing for past 4 years when some of the not so good schools are listed there, is that rating really true or few schools ( from some well known builders just reach to top because of influence or better marketing) ?

My daughter got through Shishugriha for Mont-1. Fees are a bit high but now all good schools (self-financing ones) have increased the fees. Cant help.

Can you share your experience how you got thro - Atleast it will help ppl like me who is trying for an admission.

My friend got a call from Shishugriha this monday 28 nov 11.I just dont know why they cannot put a notice of names of ppl sellected .Or just infiormation if the admissions are ongoing or closed!
I mean comeon dont they understand the anxiety level of ppl ,a very big emotion for parents when it comes to schooling of their babies.
Put a list or make an announcement of teh status and get done with it man!

hi ananya, did u friend get the first call for interview? or was it a confirmation of admission call? when i called last month...they had told me everything was closed...im biting my nails out..:( ill be glad when the school tension gets over...

Ananya,

Looks like no one was lucky enough to get through !!! Did not hear the success story from a single person.

hi could somebody help me in this query? i was not in blore and had asked a relative to put the admission form for mont 1(for the younger one)...but he has put application for 1st (older kid)as well along....do i have to reapply separately for 1st? and when does the 1st admission start? thanks in advance

I called up the admission dept and heard that the admission for Mont1 has not started yet, If you (for applications submitted in Sept 12-16) are selected you would get a call in November.

Has anyone got interview calls for 2012-13 admission to Mont 1.

Hi,

Hi GSA,
Wont your kid be too old for Mont 1. Their age cut off for mont 1 is around 2.8 to 3.0. I am not sure if Mont 1 is the correct class.

Hi,

Please share if any one of you have got calls from the school?

Hi,

The school has kept the box for fy12-13 application starting yesterday.

hi,
can anybody tell me about syllabus and procedure for first grade admission exam?
thanks in advance

My daughter goes to this school. We have been liking this school very much and my daughter loves to go to school. She learnt a lot and we don't have any complaints.

- Recently, I heard from a parent that this school pampers a lot and the teachers does not care even if the child do not complete some work (say homework). Due to this, the students may not develop the nature of accepting challenges and hard-working etc.,

Does anyone have any comments/experiences?

- reg the fees: I read in this page that the fees for this year (2011-12) was 84K and no donation; but we paid 111K (abt 60K fees and 51K donation) during 2010-11 year. Any idea why it was brought down this year? Do you think they charge us less during subsequent years? Or are there anyone paid less than 111K for 2010-11?

Dear Sun,
As parents today we need more freedom from home work and class work of the children because we have enough work to do everywhere, enjoy parenthood the children will lean for themselves how to handle tough situations. Our parents had tough situations to face that does not mean tough is tough physically. 8hours of physical work is as good as half hour of mental work. Our children are mentally challenged to perform. so let them be it and you enjoy it. compared to every other school they are enjoying only a 5days school, unlike other schools, but ultimately they are more smiling than any other school children.
Thanks and regards

Hi,

can someone help with the admission process for 1std in Shishugriha? What kind of test given to children?

Thanks

Mali

I studied in Sishu Griha for 13 years(waste of 13 good ears of my life!) I have to say, this school has gone to the dogs!
This is probably one of the worst schools in Bangalore right now.
For starters the school does not have its own play ground. A school without its own...

Read the full review here: http://www.zeeksha.com/review/sishu-griha-totally-true

Hi, we are proud parents of Sishu Griha Family for the last 11 years and two more years remain for us to become Ex , I love the school concept of " Our Children in your House", Kids love the school more than home. Education is totally student oriented, giving maximum room to other activites like General Knowledge, participating in many acitivtes like MUN, other competitive exams, nature club, social club, civic club, yoga etc., which gives child immense experience to understand the world better, I have seen many parents comparing my school to other near by schools, which is totally uncalled for, one uniquc thing about our school is that thery never ever compare their children with others, school belives that every child is differnent in there own way which is very true. We have seen this school from its initial days during 1985, since then many batches have passed out, I belive every child who have sucessfully completed their basic eductation here have gone to great places in life.

I wish the Mangement to continue the good work the founders have started in contributing the society by giving well civilized with good human value citizens to the nation.

Bye

SAGAR

A parents' experiences about admitting his kid in Mont-1: http://www.zeeksha.com/review/ncfe-got-admission-mont-1

My daughter is born in Dec 2008. I would like to know if we can get admission this year or next year?

Sishu griha admissions are over and they are super strict about age and take kids born only between 1st June-30th Sept. Moreever only for montessori 0. They do not take the children at other preschool levels.
So apply elsewhere, or try for Std 1. For std 1 too, a child should have completed 5 years and 8 months, so your daughter will not fit in this school.
Age limit exceptions are only applicable for siblings.
Try NPS, Vagdevi or New Horizon.

Hi all....just got to know that the adm are closed for mont 1....very very disappointed....i have been planning for the past 1.7 yrs to apply to sishu griha....fate !!

This year's is over.. also, I am sure she is quite young.

any idea when is school issuing forms for 1'st std onwards ?

The school has hiked its fees for mont1. But no donation this year.
Total outflow is about 35% less than what was charged last year.
2010 FEES < [ 2009 FEES + 2009 DONATION ]

Last year 50k + 60K = 110K, This year 84k
Decrease of 24% and not 35%
May be they will charge more for next 2 yrs.

I paid 84k for Mont1 and 89k for Mont2 with receipt. No donation.

Cant resist helping parents with the real picture at this school. my son studies here and i think it is the worst decision i took for him. we were homeschooling him after coming back from abroad. No mentioning specifics since my child still in this school. we got thru Greenwood high and NPS. But like all u people, reading the virtual reviews and its hyped status decided to admit him in sishu griha. But now we feel it iz not at all worth. My younger son goz to apple kids and its much much better than sishu griha. Considering the fees they charge- Montessori is a money making technique.
*montesoori teachers are no better than any other palyschools.
*they have no safe playground for children
*do nt allow swimming and likewise many important facilities for young kids
*no proper courts for other sports.
*this montessory is as good as any other playschool. i am 100 % sure other school like apple kids much better through our experience.
*management seems nice only during admission. more ur child is intelligent , they seek less interaction with parents. infact avoid that coz they do not want to work extra for sharper kids.Bad.
*extra curricular are very less comapared to other schools.they do nt emphasis on intelligent activities. no great science or maths competition/concerts are held to promote real talent like NPS.
*do not dream of exposure and training in the games like tennis, football at this school.
* you will not see any modern/ good musical instruments.
* no proper facilities for large crowd/annual events. they do it in different outside places, mismanaged many times.
* classroom are TINY. smaller than your kitchen area of a normal 2 BHK as bangalore standards for ground floor small children.
* no space movement around in the school premises. a small bridge joins two small buildings.
*no sparkling or intelligent teachers, even for higher classes. you will find
teachers getting confused over the childrens off the books questions raised.
* examination papers standard is not very good. an average sishu griha student wtill rank in bottom 5's in competion with other good schools average or below average students. i am confident.
*its just a hype for the school. there are fantastic schools in places like Mysore and Hosur , which charge as less an 25 K per anum for an unmatchable education given. Sadly we are in bangalore for bread and butter.

reading other reviews here i understand how wrong is the selection process. school does not give any importance to nurture talents. every child is same, dumb or intelligent for them. In best schools teachers are trained to identify talents, here they are trained to make the talented the normal.

all above are my personal opinions and all wise parents can take first hand experience.

About admissions, my thoughts-

Ask yourself, why they do not allow to enter the school premises for applicants? not even till office reception. becoz u will get a full view of small school.if crowd is the reason, they do nt receive that many applications. and they could do the school orientation on holidays for aspring applicants.
why they finish admissions and give deadlines to pay fees much before other good school have started their admission process? this happened with us. and once you pay them you are stuck.
why there is no transperency ? their selection crietria-
1. age
2.annual income-more imp than all below factors.
3.non working mother- so they are not loaded much about childrens overall performance.
4.where you leave does not matter. we lived 14 km away from school when we applied.but our annual income must be a attractive over them who live nearby.

they will admit your child even if it is disabled and need special care( which they might capable of providing) if you hide that in interview if you fit in above crieteria. but they might not admit if your child is very smart if YOU DONT FIT.

again above are all my thought and wise parents can verify it by their own experiences.
best of luck if you got admission here.

The list goes on…but I am definitely pulling out my daughter out of this school and putting her to some of the convents here, they do best!!

I think the only reason you have so many complaints about the school is certainly because your so called "super talented " daughter is not doing well at all.. for all you know you mentioning abt her topping the class and winning in most of the competitions and representing the school in interschool competitions must be "hyped for her standards" she must just be very "mediocre" just like any other normal kid... but in my opinion, there is absolutely no necessity to talk or place your daughter at the pedestal of “Unmatched kids in Bangalore!”

I would like to bring on record that parents like you should be treated as “ Guinea pigs" whether or not you visit the school.. Its absolute rubbish if your cribbing about the fact that you weren't offered a seat to sit when you visited the school.. You certainly arent the best student's parent out there or the only parent who is paying the fee to deserve all the respect .. Nothing would happen if you just stood for sometime .. And when it comes to Usha- the PA to the principal, herself is an exisisting parent and been a parent of this school for the last 3decades, and im sure she knows the basic etiquette and mannerisms to deal with anybody who visits the school far better than you.,., and if she didnt treat you the right way , may be you deserved just this much ! Rather something worse ,., ! Your talking about etiquettes ,.,? Didnt you realise that your posting some crap on a social networking site and didnt think twice before you could do it ? You have so many problems with the school, then take your child out of the school immediately ,.,. in any case the school is also not keen on having kids like yours,.,. imagine if the mother is like you, what would your daughter turn out to be ! afterall , …(WHAT YOU TEACH AT HOME IS WHAT THAT STAYS) !!

Your post on zeeksha would not make a difference to the school, yes i am wasting time and energy replying back to your rubish post , solely because, Sishu Griha is one of the oldest schools in B'lore and has created its image al that it had to .. and we know what ever said and done , the school has given us some value for which we respect the school ,., unlike you who instead of being happy with what is given , your cribbing so much about it ,., if you dont have the right values instilled in you because of your CONVENT school , it does not mean you make your daughter disrespect the schools,., considering it has given her some bit of values and education fr hw ever many days !

When nyour not keen on contributing for the class parties and excursions, dont send your daughter for any of them ,., pls show her the convent standard of enjoying life and not the so caled "government " standard which we all enjoyed !

Lastly, please pull your daughter out and put her where evr you want , or dont put her anywhere , doesnt make a difference to us ,. all that matters to us is ,.,., Sishu Griha would be saved from one uncivilized , uncouth , illmannered, arrogant student and her supertalented , convent educated mother !

After reading this post (response from the school), I don't have a doubt that this school's administrative as well as academic staff are the most uncivilized, uncouth, ill-mannered & arrogant ones in India. It is for people like these (modern-day Shylocks) that our education landscape has been transformed into an unethical, no-holds-barred, kleptocratic & brazenly autocratic regime aimed at fleecing parents. Shame on you, Shishu Grih management/staff.
Come what may, your inflated ego would bring you down, sooner rather than later. We would ensure this.

Hi BReddy,
Which branch of NPS did u get thro?

Dear Breddy...I do hope that you have withdrawn your child from the school. As a paernt of this school -twice over- I can assure you that I have had the best of experiences from this school. I thank God everyday that my children are studying here. Its a school with a heart. Obviously you dont know anything about that and it would do the school good for you to be out of there. It could do with less of negativity. And all the best to you wherever u admit your children next. Your in for a rude shock, pal!!

U find SG fees high? Greenwood - kids have to have breakfast and lunch provided by school . And it's not a free lunch.

How do you judge smartness for kids barely 2.5 years old?
If the parents know that their child is disabled or needs special care, but hide it from school, then who is the guilty party - the school or the parents? Is it too much to expect that parents will act in good faith.

Which branch of NPS did you get through?

Agree on most fronts. Guys this school is unnecessarily hyped. They dont have branches and no scope for any expansion, Montessori is good as any other good playschool. Now a days the small playschools impart much better learning experience to small babies. nothing looks exceptional in the premises or people here.Teachers dont look appealing too. what are we paying a bomb for?
We got through interview but have not chosen yet to take the seat.
With upcoming new schools with better infrastructure and good management, Sishu griha will be soon in bottom lines in comparison. After vistting other schools like New horizon and Ryan, we decided to wait. We want to try in NPS, but in a dilemma now about Shishu griha.if we pay, we are stuck. Is NPS also hyped or is it worth waiting for? afterall it is lifetime decision for our only kid.Kindly suggest.

Hi Dilemma...

My thoughts:
1. Montessori should not be compared with other play schools. Am referring to the concept followed in Montessori. It is scientific, time tested and proven thru ages. In playschools, method may be child friendly but not competitive; montessori concpts will truly lay a strong foundation in a child. Though other playschools may cliam they follw mont method, it is not so. ONLY SG follws the method religiously.
2. Teachers may not look appealing! Looks are deceptive ( NO advise, jst a suggestion)
3. Infrastructure : I agree with you on this point. They need to do much much better in terms of school premises. Parents can voice out their thoughts together!
4. Assembly happens on the big ground.
5. Skate, court etc...you have the option to seek these even thru other sources like playgronds, at your residence etc( though I understand school play an imp role).

pls remember...academics is something that you cannnot train your child on; however these extra activities can be given to the child thru other sources.....

These are jst my thoughts....pls let us knw wht you wud want to decide. Goodluck.

Hey In Dilemma..
Go For it!
Very few lucky ones get admission... if its close to your home, go for it..
NPS-very very tough to get it...risk waiting..
New Horizon, not soo good now.. I went there once and loved it..would not send my kid now!!
Sishu Griha is the best in the area in terms of education/Montessori... yes, there is no scope for expansion, branches etc etc.. but how should that concernt you...???
Yes, infrastructure is just fine - do you really want your kid's school to have a pool/skating rink/ etc etc at the cost of education??
Their Montessori is very good..you can change schools in 5th when then school becomes like any other school..till 4th, this is def. one of the best..
I regretted not being able to apply--i was late....
This is purely my opinion! Do let us know what action you took?

Thanks Ru Parent.

However we have yet nt decided. We expect atleast a dedicated decent playground with facilities like mini basket ball, cricket, skating can be desirable too..

Its not just about Infrastructure. With the new school upcoming with much better facilities this school wouldnt be ranked high in future is my point. We might be wrong. But looking at the school building, i wonder where do they do assembly? no look of pool, tennis court, prayer halls.I have heard Prerana montessori is too good too. so why spent 84 K? and as a parent, I am a qualified and merit holder professional. Have done my schooling in KV. i do not find it comparable to KV. do the children get an exposure to overseas for exploring different talents like NPS? do they have scout? Do they participate in international /national level sports and tournaments? I guess no. Just montessori is not important. it is about overall holistic development.

you may call me a fool.however, education for us is an experience to shape life.somehow yet we r nt cnvinced. Our action- we will pay the fees and still wait for NPS. :( that seems to be the cost for assuring we do the best for our kid.

I think Sishu Griha standards are declining day by day as the school recently sacked teachers (my mom is one among them & she was devastated when she was asked to go within a very short notice). Using age as a criterion school chucked out senior teaching members (though many of them spent close to 15 years in this school, there was no farewell too). These teachers are replaced by new ones with little competence. For instance, the Hindi teacher for class X is a Post graduate in History. Another Hindi teacher used to work as a Radio D J. No wonder, most parents send their children to Ms Kajri Bohniwali in G M Palaya who has been the unofficial Hindi teacher for Sishu Griha students for close to 15 years. Too late - the school has recently introduced French. But the way it has treated the teachers ! Also, the amount of pressure that they put on students is too much. What is the point of pampering students in primary school and middle school and jumping at them in high school.
Believe me, the stnadrds of this school will fall soon, it is question of time. All the new teachers will simply not deliver the goods and leave and it is choldren who suffer. what ius principal doing ? jsut making announcements in assembly. sad know?
I have decided not to recommend at all.
Those who habe npr got adnmsssion, plz be hgappy becayse you are in for something better... most children move out of the school after class 7 as high school teaching staff not that good.
Even most exp[erienced teacher from BALDWIN could not survuive in thess school for more than 2 years - politics bad,

Wow.. that's some rick yu are taking.. all the best.... I agree with you.. well, as far as extra curricular activities go, Sishu Griha does have a lot..may not be what you mentioned... my niece goes there! But, Fees is way too high for what infrastructure they have, totally agree with you..my niece pays way less..guess she joined a good few years abck..that's why!
Checked with NCFE/Vibgyor/Deens?..

Shishu Griha has a ridiculous selection criteria. For the month 1, your kid should be between 2.5 to 3 years as of Jun. In case, if you guys have "made" your kid "accidentally" and not falling in this range, don't think about Shishu Griha. That's funny!!! Aha!

They dont give you any prospectus.suggestion-charge a fees, but give info upfront to new parents who do not know much about school.

They do not allow you to see the school. Receptionist is as rude as any other heavy wieght schools. always pulling back and doing all things to avoid any questions from prospective wards parents.

They do not update their website.

They do not provide any information on selection and expect parents to keep on calling and then get irritated.

When they give you seat, they give you deadlines to pay the fees before so you can not look for other schools.that is insecurity or ego, god only knows.

If that is the management-god only knows how much interaction you can expect later.

Atleast SG Admission Process is much better. The dates to submit forms were told weeks in advance.
Till yesterday afternoon, NPS Indiranagar was telling not sure when forms would be issued. They issued forms this morning.
Deens - chaos.
Saw long queue outside New Horizon Indira Nagar today morning.

it is not clear if your child is in montesorri or higher standard?
do u get admission in this school apart from montessori?

My kid got admission in sishu griha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Interview went on well. Interview panel greeted us and our kid.
My kid didn't reciprocate but he asked for the toys kept inside. They gave him the toys and asked him play. He was happily playing with the toys they gave while we were having the discussion. Principal and other two staffs briefed about the school and the montessori system they follow. They verified whatever we had given in the application form and the only question they asked us was 'Why Sishu griha?'.
Principal looked very simple and had a smile on her face till the last (u cant see it many teachers)? Finally they said we would get a call in 2 or 3 days if our kid got selected. But to our surprise we got a call same day in just 2 hrs after the interview.
We are so happy and grateful to god that our kid got selected in one of the best schools in bangalore and all the very best to all who have applied in this school

HI all,
Congrats to all those who got admissions.
I had applied too. I had recommended to 4-5 of my friends to apply who did not even know about the school. Some of them got through, but my daughter didnt get a call yet.

Seems unfortunate for my kid .However I am happy for other parents who got through. I just guess they prefer Sept born and then Aug born and then July born babies. Mine is June born. Anybody born in june has been selected?
I have been following with the school almost daily but didnt get anything else than" they will call if shortlisted"

Well, the people who havent got a call, what are the other options you looking at?
Any idea about any good montessory schools for the kinda gifted kids?
Skeptical about calling gifted, but my daughter has been identified as Gifted one & we are looking for a good school which is absolutely INDIAN, which can impart good values in children than just knowledge. Am not looking at international schools. I like the way children say NAMATSE in Sishu griha. We follow the similar greetings in house and so it gives a feel of OUR Kind.

Parents who have interacted with school, kindly update if their admission process is over? any hope for more interviews?

Thanks in Advance
Sheetal.

My son is also Aug born, we called up today, but telephone operator told already admissions are closed. May be we are fortunate/unfortunate I don't know. Lady didn’t give any reason for not short listing. My son meets all the criteria what every mentioned by others friends
a. Age-> 32 months as on June
b. we both are qualified Engineer/Doctor
c. We are located 3 Kms from school
d. Annual income good enough to meet there demands
Still what more?

Kindly let me know if any good school near by.
Thanks in advance
Vinay

Hi Vinay,
Sorry to hear this.. I know how it feels since I'm in the same boat of not getting a call. Btw, I did hear that they prefer stay-at-home moms.. just guessing that this factor might not have worked for you, but I might be wrong too. I don't understand the logic though (apart from the fact that time spent with the kids or doing their 'projects' is a constraint). As a mother, if I want the best education for my daughter, it is because I want her to have a career better than mine!
From the schools perspective, I think giving a 'consistent' peer group to the kids is what matters - so (probably) the kids should not stand out too much in terms of, say income or other parameters visible to the school through the application. Another perspective is that given the num of apps far exceeds the num of seats, there has to be some sort of shortlisting, which is bound to leave a lot of people feel rejected.
So hard luck on this, hope folks like us move beyond SG and get their kids admitted in a good school.

Got admission, both parents working
Also met another couple, both of them working, at the time depositing fees
Good luck

NPS Indiranagar, New Horizon are good schools in that Neighborhood. There is also Presidency in the Kasturinagar neighborhood.

Heard NPS Indiranagar will be giving their forms out from 20th. Good luck.

Sheetal,
I would also like to know of parameter upon which child is being declared as gifted ? and pls. let me know name of place who performs these kind of test in b'lore ?

@ Sharon, mention of giftedness is to interact with similar parents who have identified giftedness in their child and know how it can be nurtured; not to showcase/brag about it. We nowhere mentioned it in school application, neither brought it up to the school until I was told by a very respected high profile teacher and HOD at a reputed school to mention it beforehand in schools.
Every child is gifted and environment plays prominent role in nurturing/diminishing their giftedness. So we as parents were anxious earlier to get through schools like Sishu Griha. We definately do not wish any other children seats just becoz our child is so called gifted.
We have not been called even for an interview at SG, so SG apart, I welcome suggestions from parents for such children.

@ Shiva, - You can google a lot about giftedness. http://giftedkids.about.com/od/younggiftedchildren/qt/infants.htm
Basically its just the abilities of smaller children to behave adultlike, or more rightly, wiser beyond their age. Giftedness is very relative term. Like a child terrible in math may be awesome at performing music/other artistic talents like drawing/painting.

@ Anonymous
In bangalore you can meet up with Dr Chitra- Practising at Manipal and in Rajajinagar who can review children for giftedness. You may meet up with Child psychologist Dr Anitha- practising in Jayanagar. Contact me if you want details. Its not right to make her mobile public. For our child, Neither we searched, nor approached any particular institution since we do not intent to get any CERTIFICATION. As parents, we think just reviewing her progress and providing prospering environment to child after knowing her abilities is the only required thing.

Parameters:(
As far as my childs abilities goes, here is too much limitations to metion it :)( am a mom like Sharon) , so please take me Right here.
For benefit of other parents who want to identify their children, explanation for my childs abilities are -
She was born two months premature and did not even walk until 15 months, but she could solve complicated puzzles for 2 yrs old before she walked. Its not about knowledge or memorising. Almost all children with good learning environment in house/playgroup know the most now a days viz colors, alphabets, counting, shapes, sounds before they are 2. So does she.
Like Sharons kid, she does not Write alphabets may be coz we never taught her writing.
(What new they will do in schools?)

However my child displays of her ability in applications. @ 2 yrs, can check your body and tell that if you have fever, and gets right medicine from the box meant for fever, from similar looking tablets WITHOUT ANYBODY GUIDING FOR IT. Understand emotions very well and is very empathetic to toys and people around. From basic electronic devices to Compters, can identify several keys, their functions and relate it to a new device introduced on HER OWN.

By hearing a tune or sound, merely for seconds, can identify which surrounding source is it coming from. Auto, bike, car, tanker, a particular vessel getting washed, which baby in which house is crying, raining or tap water flowing, 50+ rhymes tunes to mention few; all she identifies correctly.

Although, UNLIKE other gifted children, she is very patient, had long long attention span and does not show any tantrums at all.

I hope above helps parents to understand children.
But ideally , every child is gifted , and just look for their abilities. Only parnets/mothers can do it best.

HI,

My daughte ris June born and she got selected for mont Level 1

Hi Sheetal,

It really feels bad that you are yet to get a call. I hope that there are still few seats available and you get invited. We got a call on 4th and the interview was scheduled on 5th. Our son was selected and we were informed of the same on 7th. We visited the school on 8th and have been asked to pay the fees on 13th or 14th of this month. The school authorities were not keen to publish the fees they are charging this year (for reasons best known to them) and hence I am not disclosing the same.

If by any chance there are parents who have got selected, but fail to pay the fees, then those seats would still be available. You could request an audience with the Principal and share your reasons and hopefully they might consider your child too. During the interview I also learnt that they did not want the child to travel a lot. So your distance from the school could also be playing a part in you not getting a call. On 8th I remember bumping into a family who are shifting their residence to a place nearby, to address this concern.

To me Sishu Griha is a great school doing excellent work in the field of imparting education (not just focusing on academics) and the only thing that makes me feel sad about is that they have very limited seats. To me, every child must get an opportunity to attend a children-friendly-school like Sishu Griha, which enables them to identify and enrich their inner talents / skills.

To the benefit of all the parents out there: We had dropped our application on the first day.

Regards,
Shiv

Hi Shiv,

Congrats to you for getting admission.

I had dropped application wednesday. Also my house precisely 4 minutes away from school. My FIL would actually walk to the school if we were selected. Tried reaching authorities many times with no success. I think the school philosophy doesnt give any considerations for gifted children. And we dont earn 25 lacks +, but just enough to send my daughter to the best schools. So that leaves to the conclusion that somehow we just cant imagine the selecion crieterion, and rejection without reasons is not very appealing. This is the only negative from this school in their admission process.

Well, I undrestand and firmly believe that all children deserve good schools irrespective of their natural giftedness and suggets all parents who have been selected to confirm their seats. School is undoubtedly very good in this part of Bangalore.

We shall wait till oct end for the clarity on Sishu griha. Though I am confident that our kid will find her way to the best what she deserves, it's pain to keep waiting for such a long time since we can't plan to travel, can't plan agenda for WHAT NEXT, since we do not know the selection status.

If any School staff reading these reviews, it will be really very welcoming from parents end if they make parents a bit clearer about the process and clearly convey parents whose wards are not selected to avoid parnets calling repeatedly to the school. Or simply, put up a list of wards selected/shortlisted outside the school/or on their website. CHAPTER CLOSED. Afterall maximum applicants are leading a good profile life and they certainly deserve a polite reply & clarity for their wards selection status.

Sheetal.

I am very keen to understand as to what is the definition of a "Gifted" and how do you evaluate the same. Your assumption w.r.t to the kind of income "selected candidate's parents make" is not true.

good reply....Most of us if not all, feel that our kids are gifted in some way or the other....
Was your child evaluated by some institution?....

my kid started to speak @ 10 mnths and by her first bday could count till 5..and the list goes on.... but all kids today do that... Kids are like sponge... absorbing all around them...when there are parents / grandparents who can spend time with some quality time children tend to grasp things faster.....my friends kid @ 2yr would write his alphabets and numbers.... God bless all the little ones , but just learning things by heart will not help them later on... all round development is what is required.
whether u perceive your kid to be "gifted" or not... dont brag about that too much ...esp, in front of an interview panel....cos that could be a reason to be rejected

Hi all b careful as teachers & staff also reads all d reviews u post here.Don't think they r not using technology and they don't know wht u post on this website. They were enjoying reviews posted here and have list of parents who posted comments on this website.

Hi,

We had dropped our daughters applicatin on the last day, that is - Sep 10. It would be really helpful if you let me know that who had done the same and had already got the call for interview. Plz help and kill my anxiety.

How much is the Fees for Mont 1,2 & 3 ?

Hi All,
I had been to this school for interview this week for my kid's admission for Mont-1. The principal was kind and explained about the school's philosophy & method of teaching. But when I just glanced through the school campus, I felt that the school had a very average infrastructure. I haven't looked each and every corner of the campus, but the overall feeling is not very appealing. I haven't yet got the call confirming/rejecting the admission. But my only question at this point is, is the school worth the high fees it is collecting? How about other schools in this area? Are their fee structure also similar?

Thanks in advance for your replies.

Parents who got admission to this school, can you please share the fees amount? I heard from one of the parents that he had to pay 84K for the admission. Any idea if this is the fees for the whole of the first year or they will collect some more during june when the classes start?

have heard mixed reviews and i too think that the infrastructure is no where even comparible to the other well knows schools. no playground, no greenery around. been there for a niece's montessori graduation day and decided against applying in this school.
The small nursery pvt schools have better approach and attention and great infrastructure. eg. roots to wings in outer ring road. i dnt justify the high fees particularly when they take large number of students against 12-20 in the small and best known playschools.
another important thing is their teachers for higher classes are not as knowledgeable. I have heard the 8th class girls talking non sense and unpleasant things about teachers as well as head mistress. If particular about montessory, Headstart & deens rank much higher. Vidyashilp is THE BEST. its is a kind of school one wont mind to shift residence for if admitted.

Vidyashilp - starts from Grade 1. No Mont, playgroup there

Deens - Fees is 85K. As to infrastructure, Deens is surely better. Admission process - just read comments on this site (http://www.zeeksha.com/school/the-deens-academy-bangalore#comment-1939)

Rohit,
Are you saying Deens is better than SG in infrastructure or with vidyashilp ?

Deens is 100 % better than SG. Not just in infrastructure-also if you look faculties, methodology, programs, extra curricular activities, parents interactions and most fascinating is the product- Children at Deens.

Parul,
I wish there are more people like you so that people who are really craving for SG, gets admission for their ward. Would like to know the more on product of deens ?? as u said their achievement ??

Please elaborate on the basis of your assertion. Have u compared kids going to SG and Deens?
Just wary of school mgmt singing praise of their own schools.

Hi confused parent,
It is my personal opinion. I am not on mngmnt of Deens and we work with children 3-6 years age for SPA's. so get an opportunity to work with many preschoolers and can clearly identify the school effect. So mention about Deens. So no aim than just giving the opinion. Takers can take, others can leave it.

Vidyashilp has no mont. According to info on their site, they start with grade 1
Deens - physical infrastrcuture is new.
Quality of teachers, environment, Mont style - SG Wins

My son got admission today. The interview was great and they didnt ask a single question to my son who promptly slept off during the interview :)

Any update on timeline for interview results?
Are they still calling for interview or the shortlisting process is complete?

The school does live up to all the values they publish / advertise. To start with, the interview does take place ON TIME and gets altered if and only if the parents before you have an extended conversation with the interview panel.

The interview panel consists of the Principal and two other teaching staff members. They take time to introduce themselves before the interview begins and the environment is such that it puts you at ease. They too seem to understand that we are anxious and try their best to calm your nerves. The Principal drives the conversation. The other panel members focus on the child and are passive participants to the conversation. The panel is really warm and keen to understand just few facts:
a) Why have you chosen Sishu Griha when you have so many other options?
b) Your understanding / acceptance of the Montessori method they practice
c) Is there a probability that you might move out of Bangalore [ I believe they don’t want drop outs in-between ]

This just re-enforces the inputs already provided by many parents, whose lads are already studying in Sishu Griha. Thanks to all those members who took time to share their know-how. The focus of the discussion / conversation to me seemed truly to understand the thought process of the parent and has very little to do with what the child says or does.

The panel was equally very upfront / forthcoming, in stating that the number of seats that are available is limited and that few were already taken [I would assume they meant already finalized by the panel and yet to be published + siblings of existing students of Sishu Griha]. They went on to say that as much as we might find it difficult to accept rejection, they too find it difficult to reject any student and are unfortunately bound by no of available seats.

They provided us ample time and opportunity to explain our though process and took time to clarify, every time they weren’t sure of what we said / meant. This interview is just the second level of short listing. Applications of short listed candidates will be further discussed in their management meeting before a final decision is made. At the end of the interview, they stated that if we do get selected, they would inform us in a week’s time (reinforcing what Sathish had earlier stated in one of his posts / responses).

Specifics:
a) They greeted our son in English. In general he is very cheerful and reciprocates, but for reasons best known to him, he was not at his cheerful best at that moment and decided not to reciprocate. They tried a couple of times to gain his attention (once even in Hindi), but he chose not to respond. They too decided to simply move on.

b) The child is given a small play area with few toys, behind you. So when you are in the discussion, you have no clue as to what your child is doing in the background. They do not ask the child to play or do anything. The child could simply just sit along with you. In short the child is at free will do what he / she wants to.

All in all, it was a pleasant experience and we hope they give us a call in a week’s time and say we got selected. Wishing all the parents the very best……

Hi,

We went for the interview today. Keeping our fingers crossed to get an admission call. Has anyone got admission calls till now?

Hoping for the best.

Rgds
Pasupathy

HI,

My daughter had her interview yesterday and we got admission call today.
We need to go ott he school tomorrow to get further details

Parents who have attended interview in sishu,

kindly share details on the interview, what was asked and how did it go?
Did the kid had an interview

Please share info..................

Even before I go ahead and provide details, a BIG THANK YOU to "Satish" for having taken time to answer my earlier query.

@Satish: Even though the query was not directed at your post (or) towards you, it was very kind for having taken time to respond to the same.

To the anxious parents out there who are awaiting a call (like how we did):
a) We got a call today and that meant, that the admission process is still ongoing. There is Hope :)

Few Tips:
1) Just to ensure that you do not miss the call on your mobile (due to mobile being switched off / not-reachable etc), its preferable to register yourself for missed-call--service-alert with your service provided. It surely did calm my nerves a bit since signal strength is quite weak within my premises.
2) Please store all the land line numbers of Sishu Griha in your contact-list. That would ensure that you identify the caller correctly.

All the very best to all of you out there and we hope some Divine grace will carries us through the interview successfully.

How did it go? What did they say at the end? Results - Next Week/ Month ? Limited seats?

Thanks Sivakumar for your post and your tips. I'm still eagerly waiting for the call..

Hi,

I got a call for the interview tomorrow. Just wanted to know what questions would be asked? What do they expect in the interview?

Rgds,
vidhya

Any idea, have they finished shortlisting?
I have applied, but did not receive any call till now.
I kept calling and they told, if you are not shortlisted, you will not get the call.
My daughter fits in the age criteria, but do not know what other measures applicable for
shortlisting?

Thanks
Sheetal.

Hi Pankaj
How did the interaction go...Very curious to know abt it
Kindly update on the same
Keeping fingers crossed to get a call from the school

Thanks a lot for any infomration provided

I also have applied for my son Krish in sishu griha. UMalini thanks for ur inputs. It really helped a lot of parents

GoodLuck...

Fee will be around 50k academic fee n 60k towards school (totally 1.10 lacs roughly) for the first time. for the next year onwards, it will be arnd 40 to 50k I guess.
NO NEED to carry the money on the day of interview.

If selected in interview, they will let you know after some days, and during that phone call, they will let you know the date to make the payment.

All the very best for you and your child.

Hi Pankaj,

Congrats !

Plz share with us the details of your interaction once you are done with the meeting. Also, could you plz let me know from which number they call you - the usual landline mentioned in the school site or any other. Because, I'd be very busy in office or will be in mtngs and hence I want to make sure that their call is not missed.

Plz clarify.

Regards
Lavu

We have also applied to Sishu Griha and eagerly awaiting a call.

I have a questions and hope you would take time to answer:

a) How many parents did you get to see when you went in for the interview?
[This would give us an idea as to whether we still stand a chance to get a interview-call or not. Its all the more important for us, since we have only tried at SishuGriha]

Hi Sivakumar,
we went on the same day as pankaj (n met him there). while entering the security had a slip with the names of the kids for interview for last Monday. From that, it was approx 8-10 names in that list. This, I believe is for that day - 27 Sep.
hth!

hi , i was on vacation and was surprised to see that the applicationm form submission is over. i called up the school sometime last month then they said it would be in sept/october. I was back from vacation this monday and i called them up they said it's over. is there any other way i can get one for filled and dropped ?
please let me know :(

Sri, you are lucky that you were not on time for admission to Sishu Griha. It used to be a good school, but not since last few years. All the good teachers have left Sishu Griha. Th toilets are dirty and unhygienic, during normal class hours the teachers run away to the staff room to chat with other teachers while the students in the class do all nasty things, the van drivers are evil people, and so on...

Many schools are there in Bangalore (like NPS, DPS, etc.) which may not be as great as Vidyashilp Academy but at least they are not horror schools like Sishu Griha!!!

Will it be possible for you to tell How do you know all these details ? and whats the basis of you compairing sishu-griha with vidya shilp ( both school are a far apart and parents in one location will not send child to another school). Would like you to put more light on your reviews about shilp and basis og that?? Is your child going there ?

I had gone there on Monday morning (the drop box was removed the prev saturday) and tried requesting on phone very persistently (the security did not allow us inside) and told her I was standing outside their gate . When I had spoke to them previously over phone I was sick and could not go over.. they never told me that the drop box would be removed on Saturday! I had repeatedly called on Friday/Sat but the school was closed for festival and hence nobody answered - never imagined the box would be placed outside under a tree even when school was closed (given it rains these days).

But I understand this is my problem, I should have been quicker - the lady on phone was polite in her refusal to even take my form - she kept saying they received overwhelming response. So for them it doesnt really matter if one app did not reach them - and I think that is fair, however affected I am personally by that.

All I can say is try your luck!

Sri - just follow up with the school again (and again). Go there with all the required documents and explain tot hem about the interaction you had with them and what you were told.

Be persistent. They should accept it I would think. Good luck.

Balaji.

I have also applied for my son for Mont 1 - 2011. He is just within the age requirement. I dropped it on Sep 6 - first thing in the morning. Took a lot of inputs from this discussion forum on the application contents. Really banking on Sishu Griha for my son's admission.

When I called the school admin last week to enquire regarding the time lines, the lady on the line told me that the timelines have not been decided yet for announcing the results. Fingers crossed!!! Good luck to everyone else that is sailing in the same boat.

Today we received a call for interview at SG for Sep 27. Request advice from all the parents in this group who have been there do that! Will update the group on our experience post the interview.
Thanks!

Hi Sathish,
Congrats on getting a call from SG. How did the interview go?
Can you share the interview details and any further info, that would help others who have applied in SG school.

Cheers,
Gopal

hi All,
Thanks for the wishes. The school will get back to us in a week's time on their decision. Fingers crossed!!!
During the interview the Principal took the time to explain regarding the school's philosophy and regarding montessori method. The questions to us were just to know about where we live, how we spend time with the child, our plans to be in Bangalore and why we have applied for SG/mont method.
On the call from details - It was from a landline number, however I did not note down if it was from the published SG contact numbers or not.

cheers,
Sathish

Satush,

Can you please tell from which number did you get a call from? whether its School landline number or mobile number?

discussion with parents will happen, no interview for the child

be prepared for the question 'why SG'

Hi,
I have a request. I have dropped an application for my Son in the drop box. Hope we will receive an update on the same in a week's time.

Regards,
Ashish

No...not in a weeks time. It will take more then a month atleast. For us, they informed the admission in Nov :)

Hi Ashish and all who are desiring admissions to this wonderful school.

Also I want to know any of your children have been identified as Gifted children. (Like they show extraordinary skills in some areas like memory, reading, math etc etc)

Please keep updated on this portal if you receive calls.
Also, update the DOB of your child/ your work & family profile so that we can undrestand in general what is their selection criteria. It will help all other future parents.

We have applied for our daughter who is born on 8th June 2010. We are a joint family and My husband works for an engineering Firm in ITPL. I develop Mthematical Intelligence programs for school children at www.mathsmastermind.com

Thank You,

Be communicated. Be updated.
Sheetal.

Jun 8, 2010...pls confirm the correct age crieteria???? hope you have written the correct DOB on self written form!!!

I had submitted the print out of the application form for my son's admission into Mont 1. Is it mandatory to give a self-written form?

Hi,

I am trying very hard to get an admission into Sishu graha for my son. I had already dropped the printout of the application form. Is it mandatory that it should be a 'self-written' one? Please reply sooner, bcoz still I have time to drop the written copy.

Thanks,
Vidhya

My daughter is 4 yrs 4 months by June 1st 2011, she is already in Nursery in pre-school near Indiranagar, can I seek admission in Sishu griha, willl they review the application, please help me,

I had been to shishugriha for submitting application form for Mont 1 . I was told that my ward will not be given admission as she is over age.

Last year when i tried for mont1 in the same school, they said my kid is 2 months under age. try your luck if your child is born between 2008 march- 2008 june( 2.8 -3years as of june 1).

Future parents, plan for a child between the months of march and june for an admission in shishugriha..

Anju,
wrong calculations, he/she should be born from June-aug 2008 born.

Hi

Hi,

Shishu Griha age criteria is: 2.8 Yrs to 3 Yrs.
So, kid should be born between June-September 2008 for 2011 admission.

Cheers,
Gopal

I have dropped in a Printed out application. My daughter matches the age criterion

Is is mandatory to give HAND WRITTEN application?

I am just amazed to see and feel the anxiety of uncertainity of admissions.

Life is so much simpler and better in B class cities.

Hello parents..

my son is at shisugriha....the best school. please try sincerely to get an admission here. it is worth it.

for the academin year 2011, they have started the registering process. please fill the necessary details and put it in the box kept outside. they will keep the box only for a limited period maybe 5 days.. so hurryup.

all the best.

Thanks for letting us know, UMalini. Parents - I called up the school and got further details. We are to drop the 'self-written admission form" with details of the child (and may be why we want to admit our child to this school?) and drop it along with a copy of birth certificate and passport size photography.

The last day for submission is September 11th. "The box" will be kept from 8.30 AM - 3.00 PM on all working days and from 8.30 AM - 1.00 PM on holidays (Friday & Saturday?? - Not sure)

I am hoping to drop the letter tomorrow. If you have any information that will be useful, please share it here

can anybody whose child has appeared for 1'st std entrance test for sishugriha can tell what is the pattern like ? How many students gave the exams and How many seats were offered?

Here is a write-up of our experience with Sishu Griha.

Sishu Griha is one of the best school in Bangalore which follows Montessori system @ preschool level. My daughter was with Sishu Griha till Mont3 and unfortunately :) we had to move to UK after that. Read the complete write up here

Note from Zeeksha team: Medhan has written a comprehensive writeup of her experience with Sishu Griha. Thank you!! This is a must read for anybody interested in getting to know about Sishu Griha. Read the complete write up here

this is by far the most informative write-up on shishu griha, and thank you so much for that. I have two queries:
1. After we have submitted the child's information sheet, are we most likely to receieve a call to our landline number? would they make the effort to contact our mobile or office numbers if we were unavailable at home?
2. If we dont make it into the school, which other schools in bangalore are worth the try? my child is born in june and does not meet the admission criteria in most icse schools in bangalore.

thanks

In my case they called my husband's mobile number. Probably you can mention preferred contact number in the order of your interest. That would help them also.

My knowledge on icse schools within bangalore is very less. I heard for pre 1st std (pre-KG, KG, Mont) Headstart (koramangala) and deens academy are also good.

I thought june born are the most eligible in all schools.

Hi All,

My son is born on 09April2010, and looking at the reviews here, it seems we need to prepare earlier for the admission to Montessori, I know it is earlier to ask this question but it really matter`s me a lot as a parent. Please provide me the info. When can I approach Sishu Griha for the admission?
What is the best age for Montessori?

Thanks in advance
